#8SUNDAY Weekend Writing Warriors- July 26th sneak peak/installment of “Esperanza”

Hi friends!  Nothing too new going on.  I’ve been taking advantage of the last few days of my kids summer break with them, enjoying the outdoors and what not.  They go back to school the first week of August!  Can you believe that?  Growing up in Chicago, I remember we went back the second week of September, sometimes later depending if the teachers went on strike.

Anyhow, welcome back to my fabulous web page.  A place where writers come to converse with one another and I use as my magical doorway to step into my writing friends imaginary worlds for WEEKEND WRITING WARRIORS!  (Did you read that with a wrestling announcers voice?  That’s what I was going for.)

Wondering who we are?  I’m glad you asked.

~We are a fabulous group of individuals that posts 8-10 sentences on their blogs from a published or unpublished book. Then we “hop” around and leave comments on each other’s snippets.  We welcome EVERYONE’s comments.~

Here’s my bit, let me know what you think.  😉   (This one’s not out yet, still plugging away at it.)

********************************************************************************

It was early Monday morning when a car pulled up to the front gate.  Sebastian had just come over to have breakfast with us one last time before I headed back to the United States.  Chills went through my body the moment I realized who it was.  I could hear Favian’s loud voice shouting at the guards, which worried me because I had overheard Antonio telling my sister that Favian was in jail, just a few night before.

“Why don’t you guys go inside?”  I immediately asked Liliana motioning at Gabrielle and Adriana.

Liliana nodded, but gave me a worried look.  Sebastian immediately rushed to the gate.

“Leave it for your brother to handle.”  My sister whispered to me as she picked up the baby and headed inside with Gabrielle following closely behind her.

Way to leave us hanging, what kind of trouble is oging to happen down at the gate? Good snippet.

I’m starting to notice a pattern. This poor lady always face trouble from one source or another.

  3. You sure do, Neva. You’ve built a complex story here. At this point I wonder if it’s possible for an HEA. Good writing. Suspense at every turn.

  4. What? Trouble from another source. At least there’s a gate, though I have a feeling that won’t stop him if he’s motivated. Way to leave us hanging. 🙂

  5. Well, something is going down for sure. Wonder what happens next?

  6. Uh oh…this doesn’t sound good.

You do write trouble so well, Neva!

I cannot believe your children go back to school so soon. Around here, we go back September 2nd. August is too early! Enjoy them at home for the last week or so…

  7. Uh oh, tense times ahead. I think Ed nailed it in his comment – this lady IS always in trouble. Of course some of her own choices aren’t the greatest but that’s a very human aspect to your character. Another excellent snippet!

She is always so afraid, isn’t she? Though…. from the reaction of her siblings, it sounds like she has good reason here.
