Weekend Writing Warriors #8Sunday

Hi friends,  welcome back.   I’m writing from the road today, so we’ll see how this goes.   My fingers are larger then the tiny letter buttons, so it’s rather rough.

Anyhow, now it’s time for WEEKEND WRITING WARRIORS!

Wondering who we are?  We are a fabulous group of individuals that posts 8-10 sentences on their blogs from a published or unpublished book. Then we “hop” around and leave comments on each others pages.   Enjoy!

I heard the door slam,  but I didn’t move.  How could I talk to him,  when I couldn’t even look at him?  I felt embarrassed, devastated and unworthy of his presence.  I lay curled up in a ball under my electric blanket,  blasting my favorite Latino artist Hector Lavoes most depressing songs,  hoping it would drown out any other sad sounds that came from within the walls around me.

I heard footsteps  approaching  our room inspite of the loud instruments from the band.  The door opened and our eyes met and that’s when I knew it was the end of my life as I knew it.  Tylen walked over and sat down on the bed beside me.  He didn’t say a word for a long while and finally  when I felt like I couldn’t take it any longer he put his hand on my leg.   That action alone was more powerful then anything that I could imagine any word he could say.

  1. So true, Neva. There are times when a touch can convey a lot more than words. I think you’ve captured that well. 🙂

Fascinating snippet. I can see this going in several different directions, but I’m not sure what is most likely.

  3. Kim Magennis says:

I really liked this Neva. I know I have said this before in different ways, but your writing is disarmingly authentic. There is a lot of power in this little piece.

  6. Wow, quite the emotional moment. I liked the imagery of her playing the music so loud, trying to keep the world and her troubles at bay and then he comes into the room…great snippet!

  7. Wow, that’s pretty dramatic for a mistake. It seems like forgiveness is being offered, anyway.
