“Listen Esperanza.”  Tylen said without blinking.  “I can understand how you feel.  I mean you were practically raised as an orphan.  If your sister and her husband didn’t step in and take you in, your life would have been much different.  I understand that you’re appreciative of that and want to do what you feel is right for your cousins daughter.”

I stared at him, wondering if it was possible that I knew where he was going with this.

“I realize how strongly you must feel about this.”  Tylen continued.  “You didn’t question me when I brought my own children to live with us and you’ve done nothing but treat Gabrielle and John as if they were your own,  I was wrong for what I said last night.

I really hope she can make some peace with Tylen. Not because I think he’s a great guy… I think he’s trying to be a great guy, but because she’ll feel better about herself if she does.

Wow, I don’t think she quite expected that apparent acceptance – but I do wonder how much he really knows. Great scene, very realistic.
