Hi friends. Welcome back, I’m pretty happy to share that I was able to discuss my latest book in my column this past week. I feel extremely blessed for that wonderful opportunity.
Ok, that’s enough talking let’s get back to Esperanza.

“Do you think it will really work?” I asked my sister.
Liliana sighed and walked across the room toward me.
“I don’t know Spera,” she said placing her hand on my shoulder. “It’s wrong on so many levels, but can you afford not to give it a shot?”
Tears began to flow from my eyes, I felt the sting as they rolled down cheeks.
“I’m sorry Spera, but this is the only way I can think of handling the situation if you don’t want to tell him the truth. Your marriage is in jeopardy either way it goes and this lie is going to prolong the problem, but if it’s what you want to do I will cover for you.” Liliana said convincingly, pausing briefly. “When you come back next year, she’ll be able to go home with you and your husband will be convinced that taking her in is the right thing to do.”

I foresee a whole mess of problems that may grow out of this ‘solution’.

Liliana doesn’t sound convinced but even with her backing her sister… it just doesn’t sound like it’s going to have a happy outcome.

Liliana is being a good sister. I agree with the comments about the outcome not turning out well. Good emotional punch in this snippet!

A web of lies won’t help-maybe temporarily and then? Big trouble. “Oh what a web we weave when first we plan to deceive.”

Sad snippet. Hope things start working out for the better.

Oh, what a mess! But Liliana is a good sister, though she has her hands full. 🙂

I think there’s big trouble coming. 🙂 Is this from No Turning Back? Good 8, Neva!

Hi Teresa, no this is from something new. I’m thinking it will be the Esperanza series. 🙂 I’m being told by everyone that No Turning Back is everyone’s favorite of the series though.

I agree with everyone else and the sister in the excerpt – there’s going to be quite a lot of trouble ahead! The more complicated a scheme gets, the worse it all turns out, usually. So, quite the snippet!

Sneaky cover ups of lies tend to grow all out of proportion, so when you’re finally busted, your “fix” is worse than the problem! But good luck to her…

Lying on this level always comes out… somehow (and usually in the most damaging way possible). If I were Lilianna, I would not go for this… (of course, I also wouldn’t be in most people’s fiction stories… too boring:-D )
