Well my friends. It’s that time again. I’m posting my Weekend Writing Warriors Post a little early. I have to work tonight at the 911-call center and it has been bu-sy. It’s freezing in Chicagoland and people forget the road is slippery, causing a lot of accidents, not to mention other things that occur from people being stuck in the house. Wish me luck tonight, I’m still in training and it’s a bit difficult sometimes.
So anyhow, this week I’m keeping you all in the mix, Antonio has just come back to Colombia from Venezuela. He’s been gone for about three months. Antonio returns based on the fact that Blanca (his mother) indicated a possible affair that she walked in on between Liliana and Freddy, who no one believes is gay-but is. Liliana tries to explain herself, but realizes how badly everything looks. Freddy was actually there helping her plan Antonio’s birthday party, but it doesn’t look like it’s going so well, let’s tune in and see how things are going…

“I haven’t even seen you in three months and you start this mess,” I said angrily to Blanca. “Why don’t you stay out of our relationship?”
“That’s right it has been three months Antonio. Doesn’t it seem longer?” Blanca responded, while staring at my stomach. “When was the last time you were with her intimately, Antonio?”
“Three months ago.” Antonio replied quietly, staring at my swimming suit, that revealed my very pregnant stomach.

UPDATE: Latest breaking news. My first column just ran! Click here to go to it. Please hit like or share, so they keep me around for a while. I love this newspaper because they focus on the positive in the Hispanic community and also translate the text from English to Spanish so that anyone trying to learn either language can easily have a reference. They were supposed to list more on my book, but I guess they will in the actual print version? Anyhow, please click it! 🙂
I can certainly see how this would be an uncomfortable situation especially considering Antonio’s jealous nature and Blanca’s vindictiveness. Great tension.

Terrific eight. I love the last sentence. Always a show stopper.

And now the plot really thickens! Bianca is really trying to mess things up, isn’t she? Grrr. Anyway, great snippet!

Looks like things are going to get more intense. Nicely done on character conflict. 🙂

Wow! This keeps getting more and more interesting. You portray the tension really well. I kind of want to throw tomatoes Blanca…preferably tomatoes that are rather past their prime. 😉

Complications galore. Great job of creating tension and drama!

Congratulations on the column! I enjoyed the excerpt – nothing like more complications and misunderstandings to keep a plot percolating! Great 8!

Oh, come on, people! Some women show earlier than others–there’s no real reason to doubt her, but they clearly have suspicious minds.

Yes, thank you. I’ll clue you in, his mother’s going to persuade him that she’s right…. Can’t wait to share more.

Antonio is such a bastard, and Blanca will never stop sticking her nose into their lives! Good 8, Neva.
