“Come on mija.” My father said loudly as he rolled down the window. “You have to move faster, Mommy is watching.”
With that my mother slammed the door and my father let out a loud arrogant laugh.
“Papi, why do you always have to make mommy upset.” I asked as I got in and fastened my seat belt. “Promise to be nice to mommy while I’m gone. I don’t want to hear about any fighting or to turn on the news when I get there and hear about mommy murdering you!”
I made a face as our eyes met and my father laughed again. We couldn’t help it, we had the same sense of humor, both of us just as crazy as the other.

Seems like a happy little snippet, realistic that the child and one parent ‘get’ each other!

It is weird how a child can take after a parent, and not be like the other parent at all in certain areas. Very real, Neva! Nicely done!
