Good morning Weekend Writing Warriors!  Trying to get a jump at this!  This weekend is a very special weekend because tomorrow (Sunday) is my mother-in-law’s 80th birthday!  So excited for her!  She is a wonderful-wonderful woman!  We wanted to give her a big birthday party but the funds were a little short, so I’m hoping that we can do a late one for her in a few months.  She’s really a remarkable woman.

About five years ago, we nearly lost her.  She had been a long time smoker, refusing to kick the habit, even after a few trips to the ER for complications of her smoking and having asthma–she couldn’t breathe.  Anyhow on the last trip in it was very scary because the doctors thought that was it, they forced tubes down her throat, even cut a hole in it.  Family came from all over the country because the doctors said she wasn’t going to make it out of the ICU, anyhow she did and she’s still kicking.  That last experience made her finally stop smoking, plus she’s was probably scared to light up, since she has a huge oxygen tank that sits in her room, while she is forced to walk around her house with tubes and such dragging along behind her—if she lights up, she was told the house could blow up.  Anyhow, let that be a reminder to those who can’t kick the habit, of what might come.

Now, for my eight!  Sorry for getting off-track, but that’s what I do best!  😉  Was going to jump a paragraph ahead from last week and get down to a really interesting part of the story, but I decided to go more so in order.  I wanted you to see exactly how Yasmin did herself in on that ticket!

He didn’t crack a smile.

“Listen the reason that I pulled you over, was that you were using your cellphone while driving.” The officer said. “However it is helpful to know that you have some other things going on with your car as well.”

I let out a deep breath, I had really done myself in. I handed him my insurance card.

“Where’s your license.” The officer asked.

Okay that’s it.  I promise something really interesting will happen next week.  In the meanwhile, please visit all the other Weekend Writing Warriors for their snippet’s by clicking here.

LOL, I had to laugh with this snippet because that’s the kind of thing I’ve done (ok, I admit it), she really did step in it.

Love the snippet. I’ve batted my lashes at a few sweet cops and fortunately never got a ticket.

  4. Cellphones and driving don’t mix well. I can hardly wait to hear what the officer has to say. 🙂

Wish your mom in law a happy b-day from me. And awesome job–kicking the habit!

  5. I really hope she has her license with her. I would hate for her to make things any worse than they already are! Nice 8.

Happy Birthday to your mother-in-law! So glad she finally kicked the smoking habit. I recently lost my uncle over lung cancer caused by years of smoking.

Never, ever volunteer information. Be polite, answer questions, keep it simple. She’ll learn eventually!
